How Zodiac Compatibility Works
Compatibility in astrology is based on the angles between signs. Signs that share an element are 120 degrees apart (a trine) and usually feel easy together. Signs of complementary elements — fire with air, earth with water — are 60 degrees apart (a sextile) and tend to stimulate each other in a friendly way.
Signs 90 degrees apart (a square) belong to clashing elements and usually create friction. Signs 180 degrees apart are opposites: they are very different, yet often strongly attracted to each other because each has what the other lacks.
No combination is impossible. Easy matches feel natural; challenging matches ask for more effort — and can grow just as much.
